Rabbit's Foot Fern

Named for its furry, creeping rhizomes — the “rabbit’s feet” — which extend well beyond the pot and are a key ornamental feature of the plant.

Care

Allow the rhizomes to grow freely over the pot edge; never bury them, as they need airflow and will rot if covered. Plant in a well-draining, moisture-retentive mix and keep the root zone evenly moist but not waterlogged. Provide bright indirect light; tolerates lower light but growth slows noticeably. In dry indoor environments, mist the exposed rhizomes regularly to prevent them from drying out and shriveling. Repot when rhizomes fully cover the container surface. Well-suited to hanging baskets, which give the rhizomes room to cascade.
